In many cases, these names reflect the wider scope of the agreements: many recent free trade agreements go beyond the scope of traditional trade agreements and cover areas such as government procurement, competition, intellectual property, sustainable development, labour and the environment, etc. The UK government is also conducting trade negotiations with countries that currently do not have EU trade agreements, such as the US, Australia and New Zealand. The USTR is the primary responsibility for managing U.S. trade agreements. These include our trading partners` monitoring of the implementation of trade agreements with the United States, enforcing America`s rights under those agreements, and negotiating and signing trade agreements that advance the President`s trade policy.
